A note from the VirtG Leadership:

For the first time in over 6 years, we are going to have a speaker that works at VMware to present. It has been a long time coming! I know Shawn personally, and for years he has been a great independent community activist and independent consultant. A few months ago he joined VMware, where I am sure that he does something important.. Maybe we'll find out what that is this night.

Shawn Bass, VMware

VMware EUC: We are not just about VDI anymore!

Photo:BassomaticAnyone in the desktop/application delivery space may remember a VMware of old that had a single end user computing solution: VDI. In a hat tip to Henry Ford, you could have a desktop any way you wanted as long as it was VDI. That was then, this is now. In 2015, VMware is a completely different entity and Shawn will give you 90 minutes of content on how VMware is different at the low, low price of only 45 minutes ;) If you haven’t kept up to speed on what VMware End User Computing has been up to in the last 1-2 years, this is your chance to be blown away at the changes that have occurred.

Speaker Bio:

Shawn is a recognized expert in the desktop virtualization industry. With more than 20 years of consulting experience, he has worked with terminal services, application virtualization and VDI since the very beginning of these technologies. During his career, he provided consulting services to a wide variety of vertical markets including financial services, insurance, high tech, ISVs, health care, higher education, oil/gas, and state and federal governments.

In his role at VMware, Shawn helps to lead and define a long-term strategy for VMware desktop products and work closely with the product team in implementing the strategy in the years to come.

7:45-8:00 Short Break for Networking

8:00-8:45

J. Tyler "T-Rex" Rohrer, cofounder, Liquidware Labs

Matt Boyajian, Lead Sr Solutions Engineer, Liquidware Labs

Architecting the Universal Workspace: Visibility, Persona, and Apps

Photo: T-RexDesktop and application virtualization was a really good start - but sometimes VDI stands for “ Very Distracting Idea”. This session will focus on the power of abstraction both the users workspace, as well as Windows Delivery. Join us for a 45 minute exploration of how to use these concepts to enable Mobility, Agility, Security, and Future Proof your End User Computing Strategy. We will begin where most of us are today – managing fleets of desktops, laptops, and servers, and move onto your next three tactical moves to enable success – then finish with advanced and future concepts.

Speaker Bios:

Matt joined Liquidware Labs with over 13 years of experience on the desktop team for one of the nation's largest utility providers. Here Matt managed the expansive, virtualization initiative and by leveraging Liquidware Labs' solutions was able to provide a successful and cost-effective roll-out. His technical savvy and creativity are keys to designing and deploying successful solutions for our clients.

Tyler Rohrer co-founded Liquidware Labs after leaving a key role within VMware's Enterprise Desktop Team. Previously, he was a partner at FOEDUS, which was acquired by VMware. Tyler heads up the Strategic Alliance program and is engaged in managing the company's relationships with major platform and storage partners.
